LEGO Johnny English: the video game is based around the 2003 and 2011 films of the bumbling MI7 Agent who can never quite do things right. Johnny's lack of skills and extraordinary amount of luck are put to the test as he battles a French maniac who would be monarch, devious hearse drivers who intend to steal the crown jewels, a villainous double-agent who intends to assassinate the Xiang Ping, and a crazed killer clearner with a variety of unique and deadly weapons. The hilarity is brought to life in LEGO form as he tries so desperately hard to be a respected and admired minifig.

The Hub

The Hub of the game is Johnny's apartment. The desk gives access to the missions, characters and extras can be purchased in the shower, there are custom characters in his bed, the TV gives cutscenes, and you can go to the front door to choose other characters (only Johnny English, Bough, Tucker, Lorna and Kate can be played as in the Hub without using this). Also, he has a toy car collection in the corner which accesses the races.

Races

These are unlocked after a minikit is completed. Each race takes place at the location that the minikit represents. Through the story you unlock four vehicles:

  • Aston Martin DB7 Vantage - unlocked in The Hearse Pursuit
  • Impound Truck - unlocked in The Hearse Pursuit
  • Karlenko's Helicopter - unlocked in A Game of Golf
  • Ambulance - unlocked in A Game of Golf

Using these, you play through the races in any order - you unlock one when you have that minikit, but they grow more and more difficult. When you win one, you will unlock the vehicle you were racing to play as in other races. You will always be Johnny English and face other characters. There is then also a Create a Race mode in which you choose the number of opponents (less than 5), the vehicles you are playing against, which car you are in, and which course you want.

Race 1: Dreamland House

The Opponent: Dreamland Woman

The Vehicle: Dreamland Quadbike

Overview: This race is very simple, being the first. The Quadbike is quite slow but nimble. The track is fairly windy around the Dreamland House. There are walls on the sharp turns, though, which are easy to crash into. You need a strong vehicle.

Race 2: The Exploding Graveyard

The Opponent: Pegasus

The Vehicle: Pegasus' Car

Overview: A more challenging race. Tombs get in the way which must be dodged. Also there is a lot of fire and smoke blocking the way and also obscuring view. The car is past but not very strong and can easily crash. You need a strong vehicle with high acceleration.

Race 3: The Tower of London

The Opponent: Sir Anthony Chevenix

The Vehicle: Sir Anthony Chevenix's Car

Overview: A circular race with a very sharp corner at the end. Very quick race in which you can only win if you get the end corner just right. The car is of medium speed but very nimble and can easily take the corner. You need a nimble vehicle.

Race 4: The Hearse Warehouse

The Opponent: Carlos Vendetta

The Vehicle: The Hearse

Overview: A square track around the edge of the warehouse with boxes moving in and out of the way. The hearse can smash through the boxes and is fairly fast. You need a strong car or a nimble car depending on whether you want to smash through the boxes. Nimble cars will cope with the corner better.

Race 5: The Multi-Story Carpark

The Opponent: Dieter Klein

The Vehicle: Van

Overview: An interesting level. The van is slow but knows a lots of shortcuts, introduced in this race. You move up through the many levels of the carpark. You need a fast car.

Race 6: The Sushi Restaurant Street

The Opponent: Lorna Campbell

The Vehicle: Lorna Campbell's Motorcycle

Overview: A strait track with lots of traffic in it. Motorcycle can cope well as it is very nimble. You need a nimble vehicle or a strong vehicle may be able to smash through the vehicles, though this will slow you down significantly.

Race 7: The Hospital

The Opponent: Doctor

The Vehicle: Air Ambulance

Overview: A track in the shape of an '8' which actually goes around both the Hospital and Sauvage's Quarters. The Air Ambulance is very fast. Also, there are ambulances on the track as well, moving slowly. Be careful not to collide with somebody in the centre of the '8'. Fast cars will cope as the track is wide and no sharp corners.

Race 8: Sauvage's Car Park

The Opponent: Truth Guard

The Vehicle: Sauvage's Car

Overview: An underground track which is in darkness. The cars will have lights ahead of them but these are dim. There are parked cars and a single tunnel on the other end which leads in a spiral to the finish line. The car is fairly slow but will head straight there. You will need to find you own way. You need a fast car.

Race 9: Sauvage's Chateau

The Opponent: Pascal Sauvage

The Vehicle: Sauvage's Low-Flying Plane

Overview: A race around the Chateau, a wall on one side and the moat on the other. The plane can cut corners because it can travel over water. You need a vehicle which can also do this (e.g. the Hovercraft from Race 14). Also, there are two sharp corners half-way through. You need a nimble vehicle to stay on the road.

Race 10: St Peter's Church

The Opponent: The Archbishop of Canterbury

The Vehicle: The Archbishop's Car

Overview: The first race to go both out and inside. You make your way along a zig-zagging path to the church, then head inside. There is a ramp which heads up to the stained glass window. On the other side of this is another road leading to the finish line. The car is strong and fast. You need a fast car and also strong so that it is not affected by the window.

Race 11: Tibetan Dojo

The Opponent: Tibetan Strongman

The Vehicle: Tibetan Rickshaw

Overview: A rocky path up to the Dojo. Then go through. Careful for the lake - a vehicle like a plane, helicopter or the Hovercraft can go straight over it. The rickshaw is fairly fast but not nimble. Cannot go quickly around the rocks on the path. You need a nimble car or a vehicle which can get across the water.

Race 12: MI7 Headquarters

The Opponent: Pegasus Pamela Thornton

The Vehicle: Rolls Royce

Overview: A straight street again. No traffice. Very fast car. Bombs are going off, making the track more difficult. You need a very fast car and watch out for the shadows of where bombs will hit. A strong car can knock the Royce into shadows which will be helpful.

Race 13: Chinese Casino

The Opponent: Casino Worker

The Vehicle: Chinese Rickshaw

Overview: A cobbled, winding path goes up to the casino. On the inside is the long staircase which you must go down. Lots of tables between the stairs and the finish line. The rickshaw is slow but strong. You need a strong car; anything else will smash after the stairs.

Race 14: Chinese Pier

The Opponent: Chinese Assassin

The Vehicle: Hovercraft

Overview: A wooden pier running along with ramps leading up to boats. One sharp turn with a brick wall. The hovercar is very fast. You need a fast car but also strong to cope with the ramps and the wall.

Race 15: Pamela's Village

The Opponent: Pamela's Mother

The Vehicle: Pamela's Car

Overview: This race is different. It is a straight, clear road, but at the other end is a checkpoint right next to a brick wall, and once you have it you need to turn around and head down exactly the same way. The car is of medium speed but nimble enough at the end. You need a nimble car and not too fast to avoid hitting the brick wall.

Race 16: Golf Course

The Opponent: Killer Cleaner (Golf)

The Vehicle: Golf Cart

Overview: A circular track around the lake, including a section in the sandpit. Reeds are thick so you cannot head across the water. After almost a full circle is a path leading up to the forest, where the finish line is. The car is surprisingly fast. You need a fast, nimble car.

Race 17: Fancy Restaurant

The Opponent: Xiang Ping

The Vehicle: Xiang Ping's Low-Flying Plane

Overview: An 's' shaped track around the restaurant and the neighbouring building. There is a wooden wall between them that you must smash through or fly over as a plane or helicopter. The plane is the slowest but nimble. You need a strong car to break through the wall and keep speed.

Race 18: The Gardens

The Opponent: MI7 Agent

The Vehicle: MI7 Lorry

Overview: A path which goes around a brick wall shaped like a '+'. The lorry is not nimble and cannot get around easily, but will block the way for you at every corner. You need a fast car to overtake on a straight, and strong so that you are not damaged if it hits you.

Race 19: Le Bastion

The Opponent: Simon Ambrose (Vortex)

The Vehicle: Snowmobile

Overview: Literally, a path along the mountain's edge and then a jump off the end. A very, very big fall in which a heavy vehicle will help, and then land in a snowdrift. Drive forwards down an ice path to win. The snowmobile is very agile and has good acceleration. You need good acceleration for leaving the snowdrift.

Race 20: Buckingham Palace

The Opponent: The Queen of England

The Vehicle: Queen's Golden Carriage

Overview: A race around the palace, then a sharp turn, through the wooden doors and into the first room. The Carriage is very fast, strong, and agile. Also, if you are too close, the Queen will ram you into the metal gates which act as a wall around the course. You need a fast, agile and strong car to so much as stand a hope of winning this, the most challenging race!
